Vince has kept us well nourished with his breakfasts and 4 course dinners

Unfortunately the weather has been a bit iffy but Vince has kept us well nourished with his breakfasts and 4 course dinners, many thanks Vince. The walks have been delightful, especially the last couple of days when the sun came out and the wildlife came to life in the hedgerows. We enjoyed visiting the medieval small towns and reading the history and the canal boat ride was a real treat.

This was our second visit to Le Moulin.

This was our second visit to Le Moulin. My step-daughter and I were here seven years ago and we wanted to repeat what had been a wonderful experience. The hosts have changed but the hospitality has not. We were wonderfully looked after, spoilt in fact. We were here for the cycling again, but this time, because of my state of decrepitude, we opted for electric bikes.  This worked well until Vince (I think –  he hasn’t admitted it!) forgot to charge our bike overnight. The next day on the final stretch of the road, and on a long, steep hill, the juice ran out and we had to walk our machines home. This stretch of his has been named ‘Vince Hill’ in honour of our host, who, I am sure, thought we were in need of an extra work out!

Thanks Sarah and Vince, a super, restful week in lovely surroundings.

Le Moulin is a very calm and peaceful location. Birdsong and frogs croaking and the rippling stream sounds add to the tranquility. We came here to relax, enjoy good food and explore the countryside, and it hasn’t disappointed.

The walks have taken us by farmland and small hamlets far away from our hectic life.
Our hosts, Sarah and Vince, have worked tirelessly to make our stay pleasant and introduced us to the local area and French way of life – which includes lovely home cooked meals.  They also trusted us to walk Ana (the Bernese) home from our picnic. She is a star.

Having no idea what to expect (a last minute decision) I can only extend my heartfelt thanks to two exceptional hosts.
From the minute of arrival the welcome just exudes love and happiness which grows every day. The food cooked by Vince is incredible and there is no shortage of it, as indeed is the continuous supply of wine, beer and any beverages of your choice. If it’s not offered, ‘just help yourself.’
After a week of kindness I would like to stay forever but sadly all good things have to come to an end.

Thank you very much for hosting  so excellently after my rocky false start giving you the wrong time for my train arrival in Niort.  Loved the Marais, La Rochelle and Vouvant,tagging along on expeditions, and it was also a great place for solitary walking, fantastic views, wildlife and mostly friendly locals – (the sheepdog at La Cretiniere is the exception!)  Best breakfasts of any place I have stayed, best combination of OJ, muesli, peaches and croissants and a willingness to serve lunch at any time.  I now need not to eat for a few weeks.

A wonderful stay, a great experience

All the food was fab.  We felt so comfortable and every expectation was surpassed.

Lovely accommodation and nothing was too much trouble.  Saw a lot of the surroundings whether this was on walks or from being driven on excursions.  Nothing was out of reach and you catered for every whim. I’ll miss you all so I’ll be back!

I am so relaxed now that I don’t know what day it is!

Le Moulin is a remote, very different (in a great way) place.  It’s very well decorated, all the rooms are different and we all enjoyed our sleeps.

The hosts, Sarah, Vince and Sarah took time to find out what we wanted to see, to do, to eat… with a delicious cake every day.  The food was lovely… more pounds now to be reckoned with.  The walks we did were lovely, the Marais Poitevin was a lovely experience.  Sarah Plant drove us anywhere we wanted to go… thank you.

I was also delighted to meet Julian, he also anticipated our needs before we even knew them…

As I am writing this I have just finished another piece of one of Vince’s wonderful cakes and he really is a fantastic cake maker and also produced beautiful meals for us every evening.

A delight to ‘veg’ out for a week

After weeks of travelling through Europe it was such a delight to ‘veg’ out for a week, ensconced in a beautifully restored old farm and mill, enjoying walks through quiet green countryside alive with birdsong.  The walks were bookended by meals to die for, and if we had enough walking we ended our day by swimming in the sparkling blue pool.  Altogether the most relaxing time we have had in a long time.  Thanks so much

What a special place this is.

We loved the birdsong: chiff chaff, chaffinch, blackcap, white throat, linnet, cirl bunting, song thrush, golden oriole, the sound of frogs and watching a kestrel dive-bomb a buzzard.  We enjoyed the comfortable airy Des Poutres and the convivial company of other guests.  Not as much walking as anticipated because of thunderstorms, but we look forward to some lively table tennis this evening before we leave.

A memorable experience.

What a special place this is.  We loved the birdsong: chiff chaff, chaffinch, blackcap, white throat, linnet, cirl bunting, song thrush, golden oriole, the sound of frogs and watching a kestrel dive-bomb a buzzard.  We enjoyed the comfortable airy Des Poutres and the convivial company of other guests.  Not as much walking as anticipated because of thunderstorms, but we look forward to some lively table tennis this evening before we leave.

The environment is so beautiful, peaceful and nurturing. The walks (and I did 5 from the book) were a highlight for me. I especially liked Les Jincheres Loops and Les Cinq Communes.

Your efforts to provide individual attention to people’s needs and your willingness to be flexible were very much appreciated.

Our second visit and we managed to spend some time around the pool which was amazing.

We had dinner the first night and I’m a picky vegan, but a meal was made especially for me and it was the best meal I have had in ages.
I felt comfortable the whole stay and we were made to feel so welcome.

The first thought that came to mind when I read Le Moulin ramblings and its reference to Feng Shui was indeed Le Moulin du Chemin as you all, the ambience, the atmosphere, the generosity and the quality, make up all the elements Feng Shui purports to represent and more.

This is a home stay PAR EXCELLENCE and is very special. Do not change a thing!

Special mention must go to my fellow countryman, Vince, his passion for cooking that manifests itself in the quality of all the food.  He really is the best cook boy I have ever come across!

I hope to see you all next year for lots more yoga, walking and cycling.  This lace blends itself for meditation and yoga, both of which I look forward to

Je ne peux que répéter les superlatifs des clients précédents – une excellente cuisine, un hébergement charmant et bien sûr le soin et l’attention de l’équipe qui souhaite vraiment que vous passiez les meilleures vacances. Vous y parvenez avec des seaux et des piques.

Nous avons passé des vacances fabuleuses et découvert une partie de la France que nous pensions connaître et que nous aimons encore plus.

Nous espérons revenir si possible même si le temps n’est pas de notre côté, mais nous nous souviendrons et nous nous souviendrons et ennuyerons tous nos amis de notre séjour au Moulin du Chemin, un excellent emplacement

C’était si bon de revenir au Moulin après plusieurs années d’absence.

Il y a eu de nombreux temps forts lors de cette visite. La nourriture – surtout le sanglier bourguignon, le barbecue, le pique-nique avec des boules impromptues et sans oublier la merveilleuse campagne des Deux Sèvres et ses gens sympathiques.

Un grand merci à Sarah, Sarah et Vince pour un accueil vraiment chaleureux et aussi pour avoir organisé la location du vélo électrique (qui a certainement amélioré nos randonnées à vélo) et les massages curatifs offerts par Gemma.

La semaine est passée si vite

Quels beaux jours nous avons passés ici avec vous. Bonne nourriture, bonne chambre avec un lit confortable et toutes les installations.
C’est un excellent emplacement et dans la partie “réelle” de la France. Nous avons aussi aimé passer du temps avec les chiens et nous les aimons tous.
Rien n’était trop demander pour vous, nous n’aurions pas pu être mieux soignés nulle part. Dave a également apprécié la piscine. Certainement les meilleurs hôtes et hôtesses de 2023 et nous reviendrons j’en suis sûr

My week at Le Moulin du Chemin has been full of wonderful surprises.  

 
The welcome from Sarah, Sarah, Vincent and the dogs has been amazing.  My time has certainly been ‘en famille’, cozy, entertaining and kind.  Nothing has been too much.
My room was lovely, the meals were delicious, and the wine was plentiful.
The February weather has been unexpectedly sunny and warm and the walking peaceful and pastoral.  I’m so glad I came.
Thank you all so much for your company and kind attention, and for all the doggie cuddles.  I wish you all the best as you develop your ideas for Le Moulin as a Chambre d’hote retreat centre and sustainable small-holding.

This has been a wonderful week.

“The dogs that reside here are angels reincarnated that decided to come and have a look at the visitors!  They are so sweet. The room (Clochard) is great and Sarah, Sarah and Vince go the extra mile to please their guests.  
When I told them I was looking for some particular herbs and I couldn’t find them, they even went out and bought them for me.  The area is very beautiful with wide views and clear streams and almost no traffic.  We have seen deer, coypu, buzzards and lovely song birds.  All in all a wonderful stay for us and also for our dog who made some new friends.”

A return visit after honeymooning here in July 2009 and delighted to say very little has changed.

We love the challenging, picturesque cycling around here and having Le Moulin as our base camp. Feels like a home from home.
Vince is pack leader and fed us so many wonderful meals. More than that I enjoyed so many chats with him and hearing about all the exciting future plans at Le Moulin. Nothing is too much trouble for Le Moulin Sarah 1 and Sarah 2 and the dogs made our stay complete. We really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and communal meals reminded us that this is how food should be ejoyed… over several hours with good company.
We will miss the Moulin crew and will definitely be back to celebrate another anniversary

PS Raclette night was a hughlight along with all of Vince’s deserts!

We came from far away to find a beautiful place, small but with everything – and more – than you find at larger places.
It’s unforgettable how the Moulin family embraced us with hospitality, and accepted us as family membeers.  And they shared with us all the best they are and they know: the delicious food, lovely company, their time and their life’s experiences.  And of course their beloved dogs, really wonderful creatures.
We walked in the picturesque and tranquil countryside with all these beautiful fields, woods, rivers and lakes hearing birds and enjoying various colours and sounds…

Les repas pris ensemble le 1er soir avec un couple d’Irlandais. Mickaël et Marie-Thérèse, étaient très sympas.
Les “patrons”, ainsi que Shara, nous ont mis à l’aise, et autour de la cuisine du “Chef” (cuisinier) et d’un bon Fitou, nous avons conversé longuement.

But we weren’t expecting what we found here

Our unplanned journey took us to Le Moulin du Chemin. We were drawn to this place by the beautiful pictures on the booking site… but we weren’t expecting what we found here. Of course the property is as beautiful as it seems – and yet still that is the less special feature of this place.
Here we got to know Vince, taste his amazing food, and enjoy his not-less-amazing conversation. Saah, always helping us to make the most of our trip and making us laugh with her witty banter. Sam and Logan, the loveliest mother and son you’ll ever meet (although they need to improve their water gun skills!). Georgia, always helpful, and always with a smile on her face. The two Kiwi Sue’s that feel like family already.
And of course the most important guests of all – Bobb, Flora and Sophie. We really had to fight our urge not to kidnap one of them and take them home with us… amazing dogs. We can’t wait to be back with our little Samuel so that he can meet everyone… and hopefully meet Flora’s babies too

We felt as though we were in our family house

We came expecting just a few relaxing days but we were so glad to get so much more than that.
We felt as though we were in our family house. Sarah, Vincent, Georgia and Sam were just amazing with us, they treated us as part of their family. We are literally so sad to be leaving. A wonderful week of having every whim satisfied

I’ve had a wonderful week of having every whim satisfied – some of these includ: decaf coffee, eggs,laundry being folded and ironed! Taken to Verte Venise, brocantes, cute villages, I’ve eaten four course meals, relaxed by the pool etc etc
Nothing was a problem and we’ve had great little explores of the surrounding area. Thank you so much to Vince, Sarah x 2 and the whole team.

After originally booking to visit Le Moulin du Chemin two years ago, finally getting here was certainly worth the wait.

Sarah, Sarah and Vince are marvelous hosts and have made our stay so much more than we could ever have imagined. Nothing has been too much trouble for them and they ensured our week here has been something we will never forget.
The food was truly fabulous as was the wine and cocktails. Chats around the table with our hosts plus Howard and Becky were great fun.
We very much enjoyed the surrounding area – so beautiful – with a myriad of walks and activities to enjoy. We loved relaxing by the pool on our return from a day out.
You’ve made us feel at home here – we’ll miss you all, and of course we will miss the dogs.

A superb stay

Well sadly our holiday at Le Moulin has come to an end. We will miss the companionship that you (Sarah, Sarah, Vince and Becky) have shown us during our stay.
The location and comfortable rooms are superb, and we have been looked after like royalty during our stay.
We have had some very interesting cycle rides using the well-described pre-planned routes presented in the room folder.
The food and wine have been excellent and Vince has done a fantastic job with preparing all the lovely meals we have eaten during our stay.
We will miss you all but hopefully meet again in the not too distant future.

Very peaceful

Le moulin du chemin est vraiment très chaleureux. Deux jours n’étaient pas suffisants pour profiter de tout ce que cet endroit avait à nous offrir. Que se soi la piscine ou le bon petit déjeuner, nous avons passé un super séjour. Vos chiens sont aussi très amicaux, quel plaisir d’avoir été accueillis par eux ! Les chambres sont confortables et lumineuses.

Excellent meal and good week

Many thanks to Sarah, Sarah, Vince and Becky for an excellent week in a picturesque relatively remote location. Lovely food, good company and a week cycling on what I must say is fairly challenging terrain!
Sarah and Vince and Sarah have been really helpful with a minor crisis caused by Easyjet who cancelled our flight. A sign of the times unfortunately.
I feel more able to battle up steep slopes on one of the centre’s bikes but fear I may well have added a few poundss as a result of the excellent meals and many beers!
This area of France is very different from Provence where my stepson lives but it’s always good to experience a new area.
Yet another experience to add to the numerous adventures I have had after 75 years on the planet.

A beautiful place, and exceptional people

What has impressed me is the way the 2 Sarah’s and Vince have gone out of their way for us. Nothing was too much trouble. We were treated like family and friends and thoroughly spoiled.
Such a beautiful spot, the birdsong is enchanting. We’ve loved everything about it. Not only were the people special, the dogs added to the friendly accepting ambience.
As for the food, my only complaint is that it was so good I ate too much and all the effort I put into burning calories by cycling was lost by the impossibility of not gorging on glorious food!
I could go on and on but I have to leave something for all the others to say. Anyway it was marvellous !

Nice bike rides

Well I don’t know what else I can add to the comments from my Cycle Somerset colleagues except to say that I asked for an electric bike  which Sarah and Vince arranged effortlessly. And it was a super bike which meant I could float up the many hills around this area.
All our rides were lovely, each one different and enjoyable.
We have had great days out, been so well fed and watered that, despite the miles (kilometers) cycled my clothes seem to have shrunk!

we had a short stay and it was exactly what we needed. A beautiful escape. The grounds and neighbouring lands were like a dream with meandering streams and sunny meadows. The hosts were very accomodating, so friendly and helpful. I’m a vegan and the food they made me was amazing. Great company, great food and the most beautiful surroundings. We even went for a morning dip in the pool!!
